The Social Media Professional Community

Good morning. I am a new member to the group and looking for help on the best article, blog post, etc. that any of the members have seen on ROI from Social Media. Also, what tool is the most powerful in tracking online social networking activity with offline sales?

I would appreciate any ideas.

Thank you.

Hi Leslie,

Welcome to the community.

What a great question. Do you have a particular media you are looking to track or a list of them?

Tony:

Looking to track the ROI from Facebook and LinkedIn. Also would be interested in a list of tracking tools, as well, so I could review them. I'm not talking about ads, I'm talking about tracking the intangibles.

Thanks, Leslie

Dear Anya:

This was a VERY helpful link. Thank you so much for taking the time to send it to me. EXACTLY what I was looking for-especially since I can track social media campaigns this way. I know about Omniture, but haven't used this aspect so this was great to find out.

Please, tell me a bit more about yourself and what you do there in Barcelona. Please feel free to follow me on twitter at tkpleslie and friend me on Facebook. I try very hard to post lots of good links to cool stuff on twitter-the latest being www.monittor.com and www.3dtweet.com. Both great apps, but monittor is really useful where 3dtweet.com is more about fun. Also, you may want to look at www.tatango.com-you can send out group tweets on your mobile phone using this app.

Take care.

Hi Leslie,

I am glad my answer was helpful. :)
There are some issues with the links you provided: www.monittor.com - seems to be about monitors not twitter and this http://www.3dtweet.com/ is not loading.

Not related to this topic, maybe we should start a new topic, but can you please tell me more about how you use SL as a marketing tool?

Have a nice day!

Anca:

Sorry about that! I gave you the wrong address for monitor. It is www.monittEr.com. The "e" is not capitalized when you are typing it in, but that's the change.

I don't know why www.3dtweet.com isn't loading. I am sorry to not be able to help you there.

Now, I use SL as a marketinig tool in a LOT of different ways.

Here are a few:

I have Facebook for business and personal pages.

I write a blog for the furniture industry's largest newsmagazine at www.furnituretoday.com called "retail ideas." I

I use LinkedIn EXTENSIVELY for networking and run two groups myself on it.

I am a prolific user of Twitter and am building my network there.

And, I am starting to use Second Life to conduct focus group studies for my clients.

So, why all these accounts? BECAUSE, I can migrate my readers from one to another and I can establish different "voices" on each one. I want to be a well rounded, real person to my readers and followers and try very hard to be authentic, contribute intelligently and have a sense of humor and a little fun.

Using these tools in conjunction with each other is like playing a melody on the piano. Individually, the notes don't sound like much, but when you tie them together, they can be mesmerizing and get people to stand up and take action.

Example:

For major furniture mfg.:

Conducted focus group on new line of furniture on Second Life.

Taking that(which is interesting to a lot of people) and putting the info on all my networks including my LI groups, BUT, not telling anyone WHAT mfg....yet.

Setting up social networking site on ning for that client(today).

Now, when the SN site is finished, I have already got people's attention and you will see me post it everywhere WITH their name in every post. This SHOULD, if I've done it right, drive quite a bit of traffic to their website and possibly generate additional TRADITIONAL press for their new line, too.

It's a "connect the dots" marketing strategy...A little mystery goes a long way when doing social media marketing, but I ALWAYS try to add value, too, so others can learn and grow. Just as I'm doing with this reply to you..

Hope this helps.

Let me know what you're doing, too- I am so open to learning from each other!

Thanks for asking.

Leslie

the address is www.tweet3d.com and it looks cool - thanks for the heads up!
www.monitter.com is also very useful - Especially if you use the help from advanced search terms fromsearch.twitter.com .
